This image is part of a set about mental illness. My aim was to throw some light on a number of mental conditions that are common in our society. These conditions are often misunderstood by people who have not had personal experience of them. They wonder why the sufferers don't just "snap out of it", or flatly deny there is even a problem. Consequently, the people suffering from them tend to keep things to themselves so as to not appear "weak" or "mad", rather than reaching out for the help and support they need.

Ridiculous, hurtful, offensive things people say to folks with depression. Every single one of these has been said to me before. Every one makes the hearer's soul wither a tiny bit more. Helpful, no?
